SYNOPSIS
One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, follows the story of a group of former American revolutionaries forced to reunite when the past returns in the form of a terrifying threat.
Sixteen years have passed since Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio), once a charismatic and idealistic figure within the libertarian collective French 75, abandoned armed struggle to retreat into a marginal and isolated life. Today, Bob is a weary man with long hair, handlebar mustache, a soul marked by regret, and an existence clouded by addiction.
By his side is Perfidia (Teyana Taylor), a determined civil rights activist and his partner, along with their teenage daughter Wilma, born from a love that challenged social conventions and prejudice.
But the fragile peace they have painfully built is shattered when a familiar and terrifying figure returns: Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn), a fanatical nationalist and white supremacist who was once the sworn enemy of the French 75 and is now the leader of a violent armed militia.
To Lockjaw, the interracial relationship between Bob and Perfidia represents an ideological threat, and their daughter Wilma becomes a target to be eliminated.
When Wilma is kidnapped, Bob is forced to do the one thing he swore he would never do again: return to the fight. With Perfidia and his former comrades at his side, he must face a ruthless enemy in a race against time, where the stakes are not only his daughter’s survival but also the chance to rewrite his own destiny.
