PLOT
"Il Maestro," directed by Andrea Di Stefano, is set in the late 1980s summer and tells the story of Felice (Tiziano Menichelli), a thirteen-year-old boy whose tennis talent is still raw, carrying the enormous pressure of a father who has invested everything in his future success.
After years of rigorous training, the time for national tournaments has arrived. To prepare him, his father entrusts him to Raul Gatti (Pierfrancesco Favino), a former tennis player who once reached the round of 16 at the Foro Italico, a feat proudly displayed as a trophy. Raul is a disillusioned man, with ambitions left halfway and a present filled with regrets. Yet he accepts the task—perhaps seeking a second chance, or perhaps simply to escape himself.
Thus begins a journey along the Italian coast: a summer of trips between sun-drenched courts and hotel rooms, marked by missed victories, lies, and strange encounters. In the intense relationship between teacher and student, vulnerabilities and fears come to light.
