Christmas in Ischia: The Living Nativity

The Living Nativity in the streets and courtyards of the village of Campagnano. An evocative journey through tradition, history, and sacred reenactment.

On the charming hill overlooking the Aragonese Castle of the city of Ischia, the 20th edition of the Living Nativity Scene begins at 4:00 p.m., with the departure of the Three Wise Men from the nearby hamlet of Sant’Antuono. Set in a natural setting unique of its kind, among ancient cellars, caves and natural hollows, the event features around 250 performers.

The Nativity scene includes artisan workshops and traditional trades typical of the area, leading visitors along a fascinating route that rediscovers the traditional 19th-century Neapolitan Nativity scene. Those who come to Campagnano will not simply observe a Nativity scene; by visiting it, they will become part of it, enjoying tastings of products from the area’s ancient local tradition.

From 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., free shuttle buses will operate, connecting the event location with the parking area at Enzo Mazzella Stadium.
