Following Thanos’ actions in the previous film, Avengers: Infinity War, half of the population of the entire universe has been wiped out, and Nick Fury is among those who have fallen. Before disappearing, however, Fury manages to send a message into space to the incredibly powerful Captain Marvel, who returns to Earth and, faced with a group of Avengers devastated by defeat and grief, wants to take matters into her own hands.
